At LLA Instruments, we pride ourselves on building precision-engineered solutions that redefine reliability and performance in recycling technologies. This week, we’re thrilled to share a behind-the-scenes look at a KUSTA-MPL system that’s almost ready to make its journey to a valued customer in Spain.
Currently undergoing its final round of quality assurance, this near-infrared (NIR) spectrometer is in the expert hands of our technician, Erwin Adorable. Every detail is meticulously tested to ensure flawless performance in the field—because at LLA Instruments, quality control and customer satisfaction start long before the system leaves our facility.
The KUSTA-MPL is a multiplexed process NIR spectrometer developed for seamless integration into automated sorting systems. It plays a vital role in plastics and waste paper recycling, enabling the real-time identification of materials directly on conveyor belts.
Unlike conventional spectrometers, the KUSTA-MPL leverages a high-resolution near-infrared line spectrometer combined with an optical multiplexer. With a spectral resolution of 4 nm/pixel, it can distinguish even the smallest differences in material composition—essential for sorting plastic blends and detecting mixed materials.
The system currently in final testing is headed to Spain, where it will support household waste sorting operations. This deployment exemplifies how our NIR spectrometer technology is helping cities and companies advance their recycling efficiency, reduce contamination, and move closer to circular economy goals.
Whether deployed in plastics recovery facilities or textile recycling operations, the KUSTA-MPL proves that performance and precision can go hand in hand.
With hundreds of installations worldwide, LLA Instruments is trusted by industry leaders for delivering robust, flexible, and highly accurate NIR spectrometers tailored to modern sorting applications. From hardware design to software integration, we deliver systems you can count on—every time.
